Thanks Intuit!

After working with Intuit for the past 17 years (the last 15 as an employee), a week ago it became official - it's finally time for me to move on. I feel incredibly fortunate for the great experiences and opportunities I had for all those years. First, and most importantly, I had the good fortune to work with an amazing number of great people. It turns out that, at least for me, working with great people is critical to a great experience. Great people make every day an opportunity to learn. Great people allow you to focus on work, knowing that everyone else's intentions are aligned with yours. Great people make your job easy - because they're so smart often all you have to do is listen, encourage and/or stay out of their way. Because I worked with so many great people, I'm going to make no attempt to name them. However, I think one important point is that the focus on great people started early and at the top. Both Scott Cook (Intuit's founder) and Bill Campbell (the man Scott hired as CEO in 1992) set the tone that Intuit would hire great people and treat them well.

I'm also not going to list all of the other reasons Intuit was such a great experience for me, but here are a couple. I was constantly challenged to do things I wouldn't have tried on my own. I was given roles that fit my skills and passions - in particular being asked to run startups within, what to me, was a very large corporation. In the end, however, I knew it was time to move on to something smaller and different.

I feel extremely fortunate for 17 great years. I learned a ton. I gained lots of confidence. I was fortunate financially. And I gained lots of friends for life. Thanks Intuit.
