Day 5 - Duke University
Day 5 –
Today we left at 7:00 and headed to Durham, NC to visit Duke University. It was a relatively long drive – 320 miles,
but basically all on the interstate. We
got to Duke at 1:00 for our 2:00 tour.
The campus is really nice. It is
heavily forested and has a huge gardens in the middle. The tour started with a 1 hour talk, but the
speaker was quite engaging and I found it to be quite impressive. Made me want to go back to college. J We toured the West Campus which is all built
in a Gothic style. Kelli really enjoyed
the architecture. They seem to have a
strong arts program, including dance.
All-in-all it was an excellent experience and I think made Duke very
much worth considering for Kelli.
After
the tour we walked around the gardens and then drove into downtown Durham where
we found a Whole Foods to buy some groceries.
Tonight we’re staying in an old RV park with a bunch of full-timers that
live here. The wi-fi comes and goes, but
I’m able to get a bunch of pictures up…
Tomorrow
it’s off to the Blue Ridge Parkway. J
